Everest Gokyo lake Trekking is an alternative trek of Everest base camp that offers an exciting trip experience for the adventure lovers. The Gokyo Lake, valley and the hike to Gokyo Ri, all are dramatic to explore the Everest majestic landscape and the Lake. Located at the heart of the Everest Himalayas, Gokyo Lake calls you for the spectacular trekking in Nepal and quench your adventurous thirst.

Gokyo Lake trekking embarks from the tiny airstrip of Lukla and leads you through the enchanting landscape of the Everest. On the way, you cross several suspension bridges and enter into the Sagarmatha National Park. The culturally vibrating destinations as Namche Bazaar, Khumjung and other places welcome you with the Tibetan Buddhist cultural heritages. The colorful monasteries, chhortens and mani walls throughout the trail entice the trekkers to head further with the blessings. The flora and fauna can be seen while walking further from Namche. Leaving the main trail, it heads towards the less crowded trail and passes two Lakes of Gokyo that finally leads you to the giant blue lake of Gokyo. Hike to Gokyo Ri offers the incredible panorama of Mt. Everest, Cho Oyu, Makalu, Lhotse and the surrounding mind blowing peaks. The Ngozumba glacier and the remarkable landscape make your trek outstanding. The hike helps for the acclimatization as well. The retracing trail is through the downhill route all the way to Lukla and fly back to Kathmandu.

Itinerary

Representative of Reliance Trekking will be receiving you at Tribhuvan International airport, Kathmandu and you will be transferred to hotel in our private tourist vehicle. Overnight at Hotel. (Breakfast included)

In the morning, we set up a pre-trip meeting with an introduction of the trekking guide. Managing the document to prepare the paperwork for the trekking, then we visit the UNESCO listed world heritage sites of the Kathmandu valley, including Boudhnath Stupa, one of the biggest Buddhist shrines in the world, the Pashupatinath temple that is situated beside the Bagmati River. Driving back to the hotel, you prepare the trek with packing your belongings. Overnight at hotel. (Breakfast included)

Early in the morning, we take a 35 minutes flight from Kathmandu to Lukla. Meeting further crew at Lukla, the trek begins through the Bhaisikharka and passing through the Mani walls, we reach to Phakding. Overnight at lodge (Breakfast,Lunch,Dinner included).

The wonderful breakfast at the lodge fills the energy to climb up through the steep hillside trail. First the trek crosses some of the suspension bridges and the Sagarmatha National Park begins. Then it is a steep uphill climb to the bustling town of The Sherpa people. During the trek, you can explore the Everest Himalayan wonders from the trail. Overnight at lodge.

During the altitude adaptation day, instead of going towards the high altitude, hike around the Namche Bazaar and Khumjung. Exploration of the glittering Everest scenery along with the crowded setting of the market place is a nice walk around. Everest, Lhotse, Amadablam, Tawache looks cool during the hike. Overnight at lodge.

After the breakfast at Namche, we begin to climb up via Kyanjungma. Reaching Sansa, the dazzling views of the snowy peaks. Then we walk down towards Phortse Tenga and enter into the ole national park check point. It is a tiny place with few houses. 7 hrs overnight at the lodge.(Breakfast,Lunch,Dinner included).

From Dole, we climb up steadily to Lhabarma following the Dudh Koshi River after the breakfast. It is a bit tough and steep through the bushes. The striking views of Cho Oyu, Kantega, Thamserku and others allure you. Heading through the sandy spurs, we can see the Himalayan rescue hospital for the altitude sickness issues. Then, we reach to Machhermo after a gradual walk. 4-5 hrs, overnight at the lodge. (Breakfast,Lunch,Dinner included).

Having a wonderful breakfast, it’s a straightforward climb uphill. The Everest Himalayan wonders can be explored after 1.5 hours walk. Passing two Lakes, you reach to the third Lake of the Everest, known as the Gokyo Lake, which is a giant blue glacial Lake. 5 hrs walk,overnight at Gokyo lodge (Breakfast,Lunch,Dinner included).

This is partly an acclimatization day. After the breakfast, climb to the Gokyo ri and explore the breathtaking scenery of the Everest Himalayan scenery along with Ngozumba glacier. Gokyo Ri is a perfect viewpoint of Mt. Everest, Lhotse, Cho Oyu, Makalu and other wonderful sno capped Himalayas. Having a wonderful photography session, hike down to Gokyo and trek further to Dragnag. 7-8 hour, overnight at the lodge. (Breakfast,Lunch,Dinner included).

Regarded the toughest day on the whole trek, the trek begins after an early breakfast. Climb up through the steep section of the Cho La Phedi. The steep trail is also icy and the Buddhist prayer flags fluttering area points out that, it is the top of the pass. The dazzling panorama of Mt. Everest, Lhotse, Ama Dablam, Nuptse and the surrounding peaks look dramatic. Then we gradually trek down to Dzongla. 7 hours walk, overnight at the lodge. (Breakfast,Lunch,Dinner included).

After the breakfast, we take a walk through the easy downhill trail and up down route to Lobuche. The excellent views of Mt. Everest, Pumori and Nuptse accompany you throughout the trekking. The stunning part of the Khumbu glacier is another attraction of the walk. 5 hours, overnight at the lodge. (Breakfast,Lunch,Dinner included).

It’s a wonderful and equally challenging day to gain the height of Mt. Everest base camp from Lobuche. The best view of Khumbu glacier assists us in the beginning and reaching Gorakshep, have a lunch. Then, we proceed towards the Everest base camp. This can be exhausting walk, but the experience is far better than the tiredness. Then trek down to Gorakshep for the rest. Overnight at lodge. 7- 8 hours, overnight at Lodge, (Breakfast,Lunch,Dinner Included)

Kalapatthar is one of the best viewpoints for the close mountain overlook. It is located at 5555 meters altitude and the dramatic sunrise view over the towering peaks are breathtaking. Mt. Everest, Lhotse, Ama Dablam, Nuptse and several other dramatic peaks can be explored. We then trek back to Gorekshep, for breakfast and then descend to Pheriche. 7-8 hours walk, overnight at Lodge. (Breakfast,Lunch,Dinner Included)

Its time to walk down after the breakfast at Pheriche. On the way, we get a chance to explore the wild animals like mountain goats, musk deer and many species of Himalayan birds. The Tibetan Buddhist monasteries around Pangboche and Phortse are pretty much antique that dates back to the 16th century. 6 hours walk, overnight at Lodge, (Breakfast, Lunch,Dinner Included)

After the breakfast at Phortse Tenga, we begin to hike down to the Monjo village via Khumjung. First we hike up to the hill ridge and get the astounding Himalayan panorama then head towards the Namche Bazaar. Hiking down from there through the steep downhill trail, we exit from the Sgarmatha National Park and reach to Monju. 8 hours, overnight at Lodge, (Breakfast,Lunch,Dinner Included)

The last day of the foot hill excursion in the Everest region, we begin to trek from Manju after having a breakfast. During the trekking trails gradually descend along the bank of Dudh Koshi River. After crossing the suspension bridges, pass Phakding and walk gradually towards Lukla and check in to the hotel. 7 hours, overnight at Lodge. (Breakfast,Lunch,Dinner Included)

A short and picturesque flight from Lukla to Kathmandu concludes your trip in Everest and transfer you to the hotel. Overnight at Hotel (breakfast included).

On this day, our representative drops you at the airport for the final departure. Thank you very much for trekking with us. See you again.

Trekking equipment

The Following information will give you some idea about what you need to bring for the trek as the backpack for the hiking in Nepal and the gear play a vital role for the successful trip and we suggest you to have all the necessary gear for the trip and not to have unnecessary equipment/things that you will not be using for the trip and list of the gear you need for the trek are:

  1. Good down Sleeping bag (Optional/You need to bring your own but if you do not have on your own and it is to be chargeable during the trek.
  2. Duffel or Rucksack bag to keep your all the gear and this will be carried by the porters.
  3. Daypack bag for yourself
  4. A down Jacket
  5. Shade hat
  6. Warm wool hat to cover your ears
  7. A pair of lightweight warm gloves.
  8. T-shirts 2- 3 pieces
  9. Lightweight thermal tops.
  10. Fleece jacket.
  11. Fleece Wind-proved jacket (optional).

  1. Extra Strength Excedrin for altitude-related headaches like DMX.
  2. Ibuprofen for general aches and pains.
  3. Imodium or Peptone besom, Flexon capsules for upset stomach or diarrhea.
  4. Diamox 125 or 250mg or 400mg tablets for altitude sickness.
  5. 1 small personal sized first-aid kit with blister treatments such as moleskin, band-aids, some waterproof tape, anti-infection ointments, etc. Reliance Trekking company’s team also provide first aid kits)

Miscellaneous but Important

  1. Passport and extra passport photos (4 copies)
  2. Durable wallet/pouch for travel documents, money & passport.
  3. Lip care (Balm) At least SPF 20, 2 sticks.
