Following the steps of the victorious mountaineering duo Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay, the Jiri to Everest Base Camp Trek leads you through the classic trail that ushered them to summit of Everest.
Preferred by those who want an alternative to the Lukla flight, you will reach the highlands through trail used by every consequent mountaineering expedition team and trek leaders, until direct flights to Lukla were provisioned.
Jiri, a village in Dolakha district, is referred to as the “classic route to Everest”. The lush, scenic hills, rivers, streams, culturally prosperous villages, uncongested trail and primarily, the opportunity of achieving a gradual acclimatization the route, entices many trekkers to this program. This route provides a chance to visit additional Buddhist monasteries, explore more of the culturally rich Sherpas and other ethnic villages, representing simple yet, upscale mountain lifestyles.
The journey that commences with a sightseeing and preparation day in Kathmandu proceeds to the next day, where all roads lead to Jiri. The lengthy bus drive passing through the Araniko Highway is made pleasant by awe-inspiring views of Langtang and Ganesh Himal towards the north.
After leaving Junbesi, a sudden panorama of big mountains opens up ahead; you catch a first, though only brief sighting of Everest, Lhotse, Kusum Kangguru, Thamserku, Kangtega and Makalu. There’s promise in that teasing view, but it’s not until you reach Namche that the promise will be fulfilled.
An astounding vista of grand mountains is revealed, after advancing through Junbesi. You catch first glimpses of Everest, Lhotse, Kusum Kanguru, Thamserku, Kangtega and Makalu. An assurance is lies in these moments, which is fulfilled after arriving at Namche, the dynamic trading hub, at the heart of the Solukhumbu district.
Celebrate the fervor of the Sherpa village, its culture and monasteries, the mountaineers and wild life museums on the day distinguished for acclimatization.

Day 01- Arrival in Kathmandu airport (1345meters).
Our representative will be receiving you at Tribhuvan International airport, Kathmandu and s/he will be transffered to hotel in our private tourist vehicle. Overnight at Hotel.(Breakfast included)
Day 02- Pre-trip Meeting and Kathmandu city sightseeing Tour.
In the morning, after breakfast, At around 8am, we host a pre-trip meeting at your hotel in Kathmandu and introduce your trek leader/guide. Please seek this opportunity to ask questions about your trek. We will also supply you with our trek . For the meeting, please make sure you bring passport, three copies of passport-size photos, and a readable copy of your travel insurance policy. During this meeting, please clear the due balance, if any, and sign the legally binding trip form as well as the non-liability disclaimer. Please inform us in advance if you will be arriving late and therefore are unable to attend the pre-trip meeting. After the Pre-Trip meeting and breakfast, your sightseeing trip will start in the morning. We visit, Boudhnath Stupa, one of the biggest Buddhist shrines in the world, where we observe Buddhist monks in prayer in the monasteries surrounding the stupa. After Boudhnath Stupa we visit Pashupatinath, the most famous Hindu temple in the country, located on the banks of the holy Bagmati River. Here we see Hindu holy men (sadhus) meditating, pilgrims bathing and occasionally funeral pyres burning on the ghats. Overnight Hotel. (Breakfast included)
Day 03:Drive from Kathmandu to Bhandara(2190m) via Jiri(1955m) By Bus
Today we take an early morning drive to Jiri, about 187 km north-east of Kathmandu. Since, we would be travelling on the mountain roads,our trek start point. Although still a single lane road, the road conditions have improved a lot nowadays than what it used to be till some years ago. Enjoy the views of Kosi River and panoramic views of the eastern Himalaya including Ganesh Himal, Langtang Lirung and Dorje Lakpa. Its takes 9-10 hours.Overnight at Bhandara Lodge (Breakfast,Lunch,Dinner included).
Day 04: Trek from Bhandara to Sete(2720m)
Descend the trail from Bhandara through deep forests crossing a few streams passing the small settlements of Dokharpa and Baranda. Climb through the forests winding down to the Surma Khola. Continue to Likhu Khola Valley. Climb the ridge making up to the small settlement of Kenja. Another steep ascent to Chimbu and continuing further we finally reach Sete. Day 05:Trek from Sete to Junbesi(2670 m)
An uphill climb to Lamjura La through forests of pine, magnolia, maple, birch and rhododendrons. Pass by the villages of Dagchu and Goyem. Lamjura La pass at 3560 meters, the highest point between Jiri and Namche Bazar, offers a paroramic view of the surrounding green mountains. Desend down the pass to Tragdobuk and Junbesi. Spend the afternoon here exploring the village and the way of life of its inhabitants.Its takes 7 hours, Overnight at Junbesi lodge.(Breakfast,Lunch,Dinner included).
Day 06: Trek from Junbesi to Nunthala (2310m)
Cross the stream beyond Junbesi climb up the forest slope and after an hour's trek, the mesmerizing views of the Himalaya mountains appears before our eyes. The mountains that are visible include Everest, Lhotse, Nupte, Makalu, Thamseruku, Mera Peak, and many other high mountains. This is the first view of Everest on this trek, although the lower peaks look closer and higher than the distant 8,000er mountains. Continue the trail to Salung and descend to Ringmo Khola. Ascend to Ringmo, cross the Trakshindo La pass and descend to Trashingdo. After another hour's desent through conifer and rhododendron forests, and terraced fields, we finally arrive at Nuntala.Its takes 7-8 hours, Overnight at Nuntala Lodge.(Breakfast,Lunch,Dinner included).
Day 07: Trek from Nunthala to Bupsa (2520 m)
Descend down the trail to the Dudh Koshi River. We follow the Dudh Koshi River as we head upward to Khumbu. Cross the bridge, climb to Jubing and continue straight to Churkha. Climb the trail eastward to reach Kharikhola and descend to cross a suspension bridge. Another steep climb finally takes us to Bupsa. Overnight at Bupsa Lodge. . (Breakfast,Lunch,Dinner included).
Day08: Trek from Bupsa to Phakding(2652)
The trail from Bupsa rises through a forested stretch passing Kharte. From Kharte, an uhill climb takes us to Khari La pass. Enjoy the magnificent views of the Khari La pass of Gyachung Kang and Khumbila mountains among others. Descend to Puiyan and go through the ups and downs to Surke. Than our trail climbs toward Chaurikharka. Initially, the trek moves up to Chhiplung. Then the trail moves down to Phakding.Its takes 8 hours, Overnight stay at Phakding lodge.(Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner Included)
Day 09: Trek from Phakding to Namche Bazar (3440m)
After hot breakfast at your lodge, the trail leads towards the suspension bridge and easy uphill to the Monju from where Sagarmath National Park begins. After short National Park formalities, drop down to the river, cross another suspension bridge and continue walk to the high Hilary Bridge at the bottom of the hill. After the bridge the trail leads uphill to the Namche Bazzar. On the way you will have great view of Mt. Everest, Mt. Lhotse, Mt. Kusum Khangru and more with beautiful valley.Its takes 6-7 hrs walk, overnight at the lodge.(Breakfast,Lunch,Dinner included).
Day 10:Visit around Namche Bazaar-Acclimatize day
Today you explore the Museum, visit Khumjung village and Khongde village where you can enjoy the views of Mt. Everest and surroundings peaks with Sherpa culture. You can also visit Thame which is old Sherpa village as an option. Remaining of the day you can explore Namche Bazzar where you can use Internet, visit National Park head office, Muesuem and monastery as per your interest and time. overnight at the lodge.(Breakfast,Lunch,Dinner included).
Day 11.Trek from Namch bazar to Dole( 4044m)
Our trek to Dhole begins from Namche as we follow the trails via Khyangjuma with few short up and downs. A little ahead from Khyangjuma, comes Sanasa, where shines our beautiful giant peak Mount Everest. The trek is quite strenuous as we need to cross Mong La, a wonderful land residing on the lap of Mt. Khumbila. We continue down to Phortse Thanga, and little further from here appears the Dhole National Park Check Post. Tasting the Flora and fauna of this region, we pass by some waterfalls and enter Dhole. Dhole is a small settlement with few tea houses.Its takes 7 hrs overnight at the lodge.(Breakfast,Lunch,Dinner included).
Day 12:Trek from Dole to Machhermo( 4180m)
From Dhole, we climb up steadily to Lhabarma following the Dudh Koshi River. The pathway till Lhabarma is steep and full of thorny bushes. The trail offers a dynamic view of Cho Oyu, Kantega, Thamserku and we reach Luza, a small charming village at an altitude on 4360m. Again, we ascend to Machhermo via Luza that lies at an altitude of 4360m. The track is full of sandy spurs, and as we reach Machhermo, the beautiful stream flowing down from Kyajo Ri and Phari Lapche leading to Dudh Koshi River is seen. The valley, high above the river, also consists of the Himalayan Rescue Hospital, the hospital provides with classes for altitude sickness, causes, prevention techniques and treatments.It takes 4-5 hrs,overnight at the lodge. |Day 13:Trek from Machhermo to Gokyo(4790m)
After breakfast the trail leads uphill for an hour and half and then easy walk for a while. you will have an awesome view of Mt. Everest with Mt.Nuptse with surrounding peaks. You will also see Gokyo lake which breathtaking views. the trail drops down to the Third Lake (Gokya lake) and get in to the lodge. After time to get rest at the lodge at Gokyo, short climb to the ridge from where you will explore the Glacier which is amazing looking with its small glacier lakes. Its takes 5 hrs walk,overnight at Gokyo lodge(Breakfast,Lunch,Dinner included).
Day 14:Trek from Gokyo to Gokyo Ri Peak (5357m) to Dragnag(4700m)
This is an easy day but we suggest you to start early because you will have to walk through the Glacier which is the longest glacier of Nepal called Ngozumpa glacier. By the time of crossing this glacier you will hear many sounds of the rock falling in to the small glacier lake. There are many rocks on the way which has ice underneath. During the sunny day ice melts pretty fast so we should cross this glacier before the sun gets strong. Once you get in to the Dragnag, better to climb up to the small hill for acclimatize.Its takes 7-8 hour, overnight at the lodge.(Breakfast,Lunch,Dinner included).
Day 15:Trek from Dragnag to Dzonglha(4830m) via Chola pass(5367m)
Today is the hardest day of the trip. Start your day just after the breakfast which is steep climbing for a while and the trail drops down to the bottom of the Chola. After that the trail leads you through the rock toward the top which is steep climbing. There are some Buddhist prayer flags on the top of the pass which has great views of the mountains. There is icy part for a while and again the trail drops down through the huge rock and an easy walk at the end to get to theDzonglha. Its takes 7 hours walk, overnight at the lodge.(Breakfast,Lunch,Dinner included).
Day 16:Trek from Dzonglha to Lobuche( 4910m)
After hot breakfast at the lodge, an easy downhill for a while and few up and down to the Lobuche. On the way you will have great views of the Mt. Everest,Mt. Nuptse,Mt. Pumori and more. You will be able to see Khumbu Glacier on the way. After few up downs, you will reach at Lobuche. which is located at the bottom of Kalapatthar. Its takes 5 hours, overnight at the lodge.(Breakfast,Lunch,Dinner included).
Day 17:Trek from Lobuche to Gorekshep to (5140m) Everest Base camp(5364m) Gorekshep
This is a day which will fulfil your dreams to visit the base camp of the highest peak in the earth. through the ridge of the Khumbu glacier. You will enjoy the surrounding views of the glacier and mountains. There are Buddhist prayer flags which are the symbol of the Base Camp. During the climbing season there will be many tends with colourful looking around. We take the trail to Everest Base Camp through the once vast Gorak Shep Lake. Continuing straight ahead, we come across the Indian army mountaineers' memorials. The path from here can be misleading; hence, it is important that we follow our lead Sherpa diligently. The walk is strenuous due to thin air in the high altitude. We pass through rocky dunes, moraine and streams before reaching the Everest Base Camp. Upon reaching the Everest Base Camp, we see tents of mountaineers that stand out in bright colors against the monotony of gray surroundings (especially in the spring). Nuptse, Khumbuste and Pumori are the mountains we can view from the base camp. We get back to Gorak Shep for a good night's rest. Day 18:Hike up from Gorekshep to Kalapatthar(5550m) and trek to Dingboche(4410m)
Today you will have to start your day without breakfast in the morning which is 2 hour hike up to the Kalapatthar, the greatest view point of the Mt. Everest, Mt. Nuptse, Mt. Pumori , Mt. Amadablam, Mt. Thamerserku, Mera Peak,Khangtega and many more. After taking many photographs, trek down to the lodge at Gorekshep for breakfast and continue your walk down to Dingboche. Its takes 8 hours, overnight at the lodge.(Breakfast,Lunch,Dinner included).
Day 19:Trek from Dingboche to Tengboche(3800m)
The trail continues leads down to the Dingboche then after the walking valley gets change through few Sherpa villages. After Pangboche village the trail drops down to the river and cross the bridge. After that the trail leads up to the Tengboche where the oldest Monastery situated on the top of the hill. Evening visit Monastery, see the Buddhist chanting ceremony .Its takes 6-7 hours walk, overnight at the lodge. (Breakfast,Lunch,Dinner included).
Day 20:Trek from Tengboche Namche bazar(3440m)
Today your day starts walking steep downhill through the Rhododendron forest. Once you get at the bottom of the hill, cross the bridge and steep climbing through the pine and Juniper forest to the Khumjung. After explore the village at Khumjung,Lunch and continue walk to the Namche Bazzar.It takes 5-6 hours walk, overnight at the lodge. (Breakfast,Lunch,Dinner included).
Day21:Trek from Namche Bazar to Lukla(2800m)
After breakfast at the lodge, the trail drops downhill through the pine forest till to the bridge and continue walk to the Monju. Again some formalities had to be done at the check post of the National park at Monju then continue walk to the Phakding for the lunch. After that your last day of the trek continue to the Lukla.It takes 8 hours walk, overnight at the lodge.(Breakfast,Lunch,Dinner included).
Day 22:Fly from Lukla to Kathmandu( 1350m)
35minute flight ,Normally flights are always in the morning due to the weather. So guide will do all airport formalities by the time you can have a breakfast at the lodge. Your luggage will get in to the airport already with the help of our sherpas and porters. overnight at theHotel.(Breakfast included).
Day 23:Departure day your Destination
Free day for shopping and departure After breakfast in to your hotel, we will drop you at the airport to take your onward flight as per time. If you have late flight, you will have time to do last minute shopping if you deserve. Otherwise we will have to say you good bye.(Breakfast included)
